What we are doing

In May 2017 we took over, from another Italian non-profit organization operating in Nepal, a reception project for 9 children in Kathmandu who cannot support the expenses necessary to attend school, helping them in both their training and ensuring food and accommodation in an appropriate facility.

The project is "Happy Island"

For now the children are welcomed in a structure that also houses a women's hostel but it is our will to buy an independent structure to be able to host other children. The goal is to arrive at the end of 2021 with 20 children hosted.

We are evaluating some facilities in Kathmandu and have started negotiations with the owners. The ideal solution would be a 3-storey building with an adjoining garden for outdoor activities.

About us

Established after the achievement of the aims of the Friends of Monte Rosa non-profit organization, and following the earthquake of 25 April 2015, our aim is to re-establish the structures built in Malekhu and Namche Bazar and start new projects that will be followed directly by us on the spot.

After the 2015 earthquake, we took action by sending aid to the Khumbu valley and Gorkha district, through our associate NGO Friends of Nepal in Kathmandu.

What we have completed

We quickly reactivated the activities of the Malekhu hospital, which stopped due to the 2015 earthquake, restoring all departments to ensure hospital services.

Starting from 1 January 2018, we have returned the Medical Unit to the Dhading District, completely self-sufficient and with a new Board of Directors that will take care of its operation.

The hospital was built in memory of Renato Andorno, a lover of the Nepalese people and citizen of the world, who passed away in 2002.
